Earth Day Celebration Schedule
9:00 a.m. Doors open Visit informational booths with giveaways! Booths will be open the entire event.
9:30 a.m. Solar Installations, Energy Audits & EnergySaver Program
Learn about the City of Garland’s Solar Installation requirements, and find out how to save energy and money from an energy audit and by participating in GP&L’s EnergySaver Program. Presented by GP&L’s Energy Advisors.
10:00 a.m. What Good Are Bugs?
Learn the importance of allowing the good bugs to help control the few bad bugs, thus creating a garden environment that requires little or no insecticide. Presented by Master Gardener.
11:00 a.m. Texas Native and Adapted Plants
Learn about plants that do well in North Central Texas and good horticulture practices that can help ensure gardening success. This presentation includes photos of the Master Gardener’s yard and garden.
Noon Rain Barrel & Water Conservation
Texas Water Development Board member will talk about the state water plan and how both water conservation and rain water harvesting impacts Texas’ future water resources.
1 p.m. Event closes
Important to note, there will be NO Recycle Row and no shredding at this event.
