The great partnership between Garland Parks & Recreation and Garland Power & Light was on display Saturday, Nov. 4. In conjunction with Texas Arbor Day, the City’s annual Tree Power Free Tree Giveaway distributed 400 trees to Garland residents.
This year residents had a choice of six varieties of trees, all well suited to the Garland climate.
The event was supported by Spring Creek Church, which provided 75 hardworking volunteers. It was the second year for the church to contribute and its leaders have vowed to participate annually in the Texas Arbor Day festivities.
Hosted at One Eleven Ranch Park, Texas Arbor Day included a proclamation from Mayor LeMay, the Tree Power Free Tree Giveaway distribution, planting of 50 trees and other park spruce ups. This deeply rooted event demonstrates the value of trees in our community and educates on proper planting and care. Thanks to all who participated!
